The Science, Art and Writing (SAW) initiative breaks down traditional barriers between science and the arts and stimulates exploration, enquiry and creativity. The SAW Trust brings together practising scientists, artists and writers to design and deliver projects in schools and at public events, and also offers teacher training workshops for schools wanting to run their own SAW projects. Themes range from curriculum-based science to cutting-edge research straight from the lab and encourage people of all ages and interests to explore practical science and respond through creative writing and visual arts.
Microscopy Insight Day takes place each Autumn, and gives local schools the opportunity to see and use John Innes Centre microscopy equipment.
